Jill Cordova, Elementary Literacy Coordinator, Named United Way Literacy Champion

Jill Cordova, MUSD Elementary Literacy Coordinator, has received the United Way Literacy Champion Award, recognizing individuals who demonstrate an exceptional commitment to improving reading outcomes for students in Pima County.

Jill has been an outstanding partner with United Way Cradle to Career since 2021. Over the past year, her leadership has stood out for its focus on strengthening instructional practices and expanding high-impact literacy support across schools.

Under Jill’s guidance, the Empowered Teaching initiative has grown significantly across the district, expanding from just 2 classrooms to 12 schools and reaching more than 1,550 students. This impressive growth reflects her deep commitment to strengthening teaching and learning while using data to drive instruction, ultimately empowering educators and accelerating student success in both literacy and math.
