Welcome to Beginning Drama. Drama is a performing art and in-class performances are required.  Acting lessons on all levels and are appropriate for all students. Students are allowed to express themselves in an open forum. They experience decision-making in a safe environment.  Everyone has FUN! This is a one-semester course. 

Students participate in pantomime, voice, improvisation, character development, Team building.  

Students can volunteer to participate in a theatrical presentation each semester.  Students have the opportunity to explore various characters through acting and are exposed to history via period pieces (i.e. Shakespeare).  Students learn how to work together in a group to create a theatrical production, and to take responsibility, as well as follow through with a commitment.  

If you enjoy helping out your community, Builders club is the club for you! We focus on helping our community through service projects designed by members.  We meet Tuesdays after school.  It’s also a great way to meet new and friendly people!

The National Junior Honor Society is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1929.

Today, it is estimated that more than one million students participate in official Honor Society activities. NHS and NJHS chapters are found in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, many U.S. territories, and Canada. Chapter membership not only recognizes students for their accomplishments, but challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service.

This club is composed of 7th grade students who have been chosen to go on the yearly CIMI trip. Students meet biweekly during 2nd quarter and weekly during 3rd quarter during 7th grade lunch in anticipation of the Catalina Island trip (Rodeo Break week). 

At CIMI, students are able to learn about the ocean and our place with it. Students are able to:

• Observe sharks in a touch tank
• Learn about algae and plankton
• Observe invertebrates in touch tanks
• Snorkel (including a nighttime snorkel that allows participants to see bioluminescence!)
• Kayak
• Dissect a squid
• Much more!

Welcome to Advanced Drama-- in this class we will explore the world of acting through different techniques. Topics to include but not limited to: monologue, duet scene, improvisation, movement, stage make-up, Shakespeare etc. This is a performance class. There will be many in-class performances and four formal performances.

Everyday supplies needed:

• A sharpened pencil (pens are not allowed)
• 3 ring binder with paper and Clear page protectors

• Skins Girls Flesh colored Leotard, 
• Boys slide pants and undershirt
• Character Shoes Black (purchased through the book store $20)
• Personal Stage makeup kit (purchased through the bookstore $20)

Student Council is a group of students elected or chosen to represent the student body at Marana Middle School.  This is a place for your voice to be heard by students, staff and administration.

We show pride by organizing pep rallies and spirit week.  We help with announcements and food drives.  We are responsible for helping to put on our Nightmare on Grier Event, Falcons Fly the nest night and more.

Leadership is the biggest aspect of Student Council.  However, participation in StudCo will also help build teamwork and communication skills.  We learn about decision making and planning for events.  We make new friends and are role models for our campus.

Our WEB Orientation is our transition program for incoming 7th graders. During WEB incoming 7th graders have an opportunity to meet other incoming 7th graders from our 6 feeders schools, get a tour of campus, get to know their WEB Leaders, participate in an interactive, high energy assembly, and get excited for their school year.

The WEB Leaders are hand chosen 8th grade students and are trained for two days before the orientation. They learn how to run activities in a small group and how to ease the fears of transition. During the school year, WEB leaders conduct lessons in classes to further ease the transition and teach 7th graders valuable skills they will use throughout their life.
